Take a Trolley Tour

If you are visiting Downtown Memphis and can't decide what to see first, take a trolley tour to get a quick view of most of Downtown. There are three different types of trolleys Downtown, you will want to board the River Front Loop Trolley, which makes a complete loop of the area in about an hour for only $1.00. Trolleys are approximately 10 minutes apart. You can board at any junction that the River Front Loop Trolley stops. Just keep in mind, after the initial loop, if you want to continue to ride, you will have to pay another $1.00. I find this ride very relaxing and the trolley engineers are very helpful, especially if you let them know that you are not very familiar with Downtown Memphis and ask for recommendations and directions.

Some of the sites that the River Front LoopTrolley passes are Historic Beale Street, Mud Island, The Pyramid, Riverfront (cruise boats, riverwalk, Tom Lee Park), and the National Civil Rights Museum. This trolley also passes by a host of hotels, shops and restaurants. The River Front Loop Trolley is operated by the Memphis Area Transit Authority.
